Activate Games is set to open its first Regina location on August 21, 2024, marking a significant expansion for the entertainment company that has gained popularity through viral TikTok videos. The Regina facility, spanning 12,989 square feet at 2550 Quance Street, will feature 12 different game rooms offering a full 75-minute gaming experience that combines physical activity with interactive technology. To celebrate the opening, Activate is offering free admission to visitors from August 21 to August 28, 2024, providing the local community with an opportunity to experience this innovative entertainment concept firsthand.
The gaming experience at Activate represents a revolution in entertainment by blending physical movement with cutting-edge technology. Notable attractions include the Mega Grid with over 500 multi-activated tiles, the Strike game where players aim at beaming bullseyes, and a Laser room that simulates a modern-day spy experience. Players will use advanced electronic RFID wristbands that track progress, accumulate points, advance through levels, and enable prize winning throughout the gaming session. This technology-driven approach has contributed to Activate's rapid growth, with the company now boasting 40 locations across the United States and Canada and a global player base exceeding 2.6 million players.
Adam Schmidt, Founder & CEO of Activate, expressed enthusiasm about the Regina expansion, noting the city's strong sense of community and enthusiasm for new experiences as ideal characteristics for their business model. The Regina location will operate Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Friday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with visitors advised to wear activewear and indoor runners. Groups of two to five players can sign up for sessions, making it an ideal social activity for friends and families seeking active entertainment options.
This expansion into Regina is part of Activate's broader growth strategy that includes additional Canadian locations in Toronto Stockyards and Coquitlam, BC later this year. The company also plans new United States locations in New York (Roosevelt Field) and Detroit, MI, along with international expansion to Dubai in Fall 2024 and the UK in 2025. The company's continued growth demonstrates strong market appetite for immersive, health-conscious entertainment that combines physical activity with gaming technology. The first 50 visitors to the Regina location will receive an exclusive free gift, adding extra incentive for early attendance during the opening week free admission period.
