Torr Metals has released final assay results from its comprehensive 2023 soil sampling program conducted at the Kolos Project near Merritt, British Columbia. The exploration company's analysis of 3,348 soil samples covering 48 square kilometers has delineated five kilometer-scale mineralized zones within a potential cluster porphyry trend extending 7 kilometers. The findings demonstrate highly anomalous copper concentrations exceeding 200 parts per million, with maximum values reaching 1175 ppm Cu, indicating substantial mineralization potential throughout the project area.
The northern portion of the sampling grid revealed two significant zones: the Rea Zone measuring 1200 meters by 350 meters and the Clapperton Zone spanning 1000 meters by 900 meters. According to Malcolm Dorsey, Torr Metals' CEO, the Clapperton Zone exhibits particularly promising characteristics with highly anomalous copper-molybdenum mineralization associated with Late Triassic intrusions. These intrusions occur near large-scale intersecting north-south and northwest-southeast shear structures, creating favorable geological conditions for mineral deposition and concentration.
The geological features identified at the Kolos Project show strong comparison to the nearby Highland Valley Cu-Mo porphyry deposit located approximately 30 kilometers to the northwest. This similarity to one of British Columbia's major mining districts enhances the project's significance and potential economic value. The positive soil sampling results provide compelling evidence for the existence of a substantial mineralized system that warrants further investigation and development.
Torr Metals plans to leverage these findings to advance its understanding of the project's geological characteristics and economic potential. The identification of multiple mineralized zones across a 7-kilometer trend suggests the possibility of a cluster porphyry system, which could represent a significant mineral resource in a region known for its mining history and infrastructure. The company's systematic exploration approach has successfully identified targets for future drilling campaigns and more detailed geological mapping.
The results from the 2023 soil sampling program position Torr Metals to strategically plan subsequent exploration phases, potentially including geophysical surveys and diamond drilling to test the depth extent of the identified mineralization. The company's focus on the Kolos Project reflects the ongoing importance of mineral exploration in British Columbia's mining sector and the continued potential for new discoveries in established mining regions.
