A father-daughter team from British Columbia has achieved what no one has accomplished before - visiting all 44 lift-serviced ski resorts in the province within a remarkable 42-day timeframe. Greg Scott and his daughter Hali launched what they called 'The Skadi Tour' on January 25th in Terrace, B.C., and completed their extraordinary journey on March 6th at Silver Star Resort near Vernon. The tour was designed to promote the Tidbits of Change Foundation, an organization that encourages Canadian youth to work with parents or mentors on community projects.
Greg Scott explained the ambitious concept behind their journey: 'We started to look at the possibility of visiting all the ski areas during the day while visiting schools or parent advisory councils in the late afternoons or evenings. When we mapped out that there were 42 ski areas, we came up with the crazy notion to try to ski all of them in 42 days.' Their original plan expanded when they discovered two additional ski areas during their travels, ultimately bringing their total to 44 resorts visited within the 42-day period.
The pair traveled in a custom-built tiny home provided by Hummingbird Micro Homes, which became both their transportation and accommodation throughout the intensive tour. Their journey quickly captured public attention through social media, particularly their 'Chairlift Chatter' segments that featured interviews with local skiing legends, generating hundreds of thousands of interactions online. This digital engagement helped amplify their message about youth mentorship and community involvement.
Doug Chimuk, SilverStar Marketing Manager, expressed the resort's enthusiasm for hosting the final leg of this historic tour. 'Their passion for skiing is inspiring, and our mountain community is excited to welcome them and share in some of their adventure,' he said. The timing proved perfect as the pair arrived at SilverStar just as the resort reached its 200 cm snowfall mark for the season, creating ideal conditions to celebrate their unprecedented achievement.
The tour, named after Skadi, the Norse goddess of snow, skiing, and mountains, received significant support from corporate partners including HEAD skis, Kal-Tire, and Hummingbird Micro Homes. These companies not only provided equipment and logistical support but also contributed youth bursaries to the Tidbits of Change Foundation, furthering the tour's educational and community-building objectives. This combination of athletic achievement and social purpose demonstrates how personal passions can be leveraged to create positive community impact while setting new standards in recreational sports.
